Tuina is a three millennia old form of bodywork that treats a multitude of medical conditions. Over the thousands of years since its inception, tuina has continued to develop and adapt: increasing the number of hand techniques, broadening the range of diseases treated, deepening the research basis and refining the underlying theory.  Tuina treats both soft and hard tissue conditions, making it an essential part of TCM treatment of orthopedic, musculoskeletal and sports medicine conditions. In order to treat soft tissue problems, tuina uses hand techniques to relieve  spasming, dispel tension, release nerve impingement and penetrate to deep tissues. For treating hard tissue or bone disorders, tuina utilizes hand techniques to realign joints and increase the range of motion. It is also an excellent method of pediatric medicine as it utilizes neither chemicals nor needles and is highly effective.

The most common conditions treated with tuina are herniated discs, cervical spondylosis (spinal neck problems), frozen shoulder, knee pain, etc.  It is often also used effectively to treat headaches, constipation, digestive disorders, sprains and other trauma. Tuina is also an excellent method for wellness and maintenance treatments, due to its ability to decrease tension, reduce fatigue, improve circulation and increase mobility.  Athletes often use tuina to treat sports injuries after competing or to enhance performance and mobility before competing.
